But in the process they missed a lot of the point of Twain's satire- that idealizing Arthurian mythology (which his contemporaries were fond of, it should be said) was a bad idea because it was an ideal and not a reality connected to the real setting in which it originated. Even Thomas Malory's "Le Morte D'Arthur", the leading Arthurian almanac for so many years, which Twain used as the starting point for his story, knew that.
