One of my son’s and my favorite Netflix movies is 2020’s Over the Moon, which is a retelling of a Chinese folktale. I can’t remember how we found this thing, but it only took one viewing for both of us to get hooked.

The story follows Fei Fei, a young girl who’s lost her mother. All her life she’s been told about Chang’e, a beautiful woman who lives in the moon waiting for her lost lover, and now that her mother’s gone, Fei Fei’s afraid her dad doesn’t believe in the story anymore. He’s got a new fiance, Mrs. Zhong, who, much to Fei Fei’s annoyance, has a rather rambunctious son named Chin. He’s quite the pest, and he has a very curious pet frog.
