Fast fashion is a relatively new concept, at least fast fashion the way Brandy Hellville & the Cult of Fast Fashion defines it; as in, this is fashion that is promoted through social media, especially Instagram, its target demographic is teen girls, and by owning the clothes, the brand promises its young customers a piece of their action. If you own our clothes, you can look like the girls in our promos. Happy. Popular. Desirable. Thin.
Naturally, the reality is quite a bit different and quite a bit more toxic.
